Summary

The Game Boy version of Home Alone lets you tiptoe through the familiar house while constantly evading the Wet Bandits. You collect specific treasure per floor—jewelry, toys, electronics or even exotic pets—and toss them down the laundry chute to stash them safely. Once enough items are deposited you unlock the basement, where each stage crowns a bizarre boss: a giant spider, a massive rat, a spooky ghost and finally the duo Marv and Harry. The game hints at a larger crew of thieves beyond the notorious pair, adding a small lore twist. Critics at Electronic Gaming Monthly noted the play feels sluggish and repetitive, complaining about the plain graphics and limited variety, so it never quite lived up to the movie’s mischievous charm.

Storyline

Home Alone on Game Boy follows the same mischievous premise as the classic film. Kevin McCallister wakes up to find his family has accidentally boarded a plane to Paris, leaving him alone for the holidays. While he enjoys the freedom, two bumbling thieves—Harry and Marv, known as the Wet Bandits—sneak toward his house with plans to loot it. Kevin must outwit them by rigging everyday household items into clever traps and weapons, turning the ordinary home into a defensive maze. The game’s objective is simple: protect the house from the burglars long enough to keep the Christmas spirit safe.
