Summary

God Medicine (often shortened to God Medicine) is a hidden gem from the Game Boy era, originally released only in Japan before resurfacing through Nintendo Power’s 1998 service. That re‑issue added Super Game Boy border support and a bestiary that lets players look up every monster they encounter, giving the title a modest boost in accessibility.

The game sticks to classic RPG formulas: a trio of adventurers can level up through combat, equip a variety of weapons and armor, and learn spells. Its standout mechanic is the Maphu system – players gather Maphu gems, slot them into special weapons, and unleash character‑specific attacks. Some of these attacks require a charge that persists even after the battle ends, adding a layer of strategic planning.

Another quality‑of‑life perk is the ability to save at any point outside of combat, letting you pause the adventure whenever you need without the usual handheld constraints.
