Summary

The Fidgetts is a quirky Game Boy platformer that lets you juggle two mouse heroes, Frankie and Freddie, as they scramble through maze‑like stages. By hitting the Select button you swap control, forcing you to think about which mouse can squeeze through a tight corridor and which can climb on the other’s back to reach higher platforms. The clock is always ticking, so you have to guide both critters to the exit before time runs out.

Scattered blocks, springs and other pick‑up items add a light puzzle element, while occasional bonus rooms break the rhythm with Breakout‑style challenges that feel like a nostalgic arcade side‑quest. Progress is saved with a simple password system, a common trick for handheld games of the era.

Critics were split: Famitsu’s scores hovered around the mid‑range, Nintendo Power gave it a modest 5.2 out of 10, yet European outlets such as GB Action and Mega Fun rated it much higher, even reaching the low 80s percent. A two‑player link mode was planned but never made it into the final cartridge, leaving the single‑player experience as the sole focus.

Storyline

In The Fidgetts, often simply called Fidgetts, you guide two mouse brothers—Frankie and Freddie—through the gritty city sewers. Their mission is to navigate the underground tunnels, avoid hazards, and make their way toward the bustling docks. Once they reach the waterfront, the brothers must board a departing ship. The ultimate goal is to reunite with the rest of their family, who are waiting for them in America.
