Summary

I first ran into Days of Thunder on my Game Boy and was instantly struck by how the little cartridge managed to squeeze a full‑blown NASCAR vibe into those tiny screens. The game leans on the 1990 film’s license from Paramount, borrowing its graphics, a few musical cues and even the movie’s title to give the racing action a cinematic flavor. While Argonaut Software handled the original development, Mindscape took charge of distribution, and a later port by Beam Software landed on the Game Boy in 1992, extending the reach beyond the PC and NES versions. It’s a neat example of early ’90s cross‑media collaboration, where a Hollywood blockbuster found a surprisingly competent home in a handheld console.
