Summary

Daiku no Gen‑san: Ghost Building Company, known in Europe as Hammerin' Harry: Ghost Building Company, drops you into a quirky construction‑site showdown that feels like a love letter to early‑90s arcade action. You step into the shoes of Genzo Tamura, a hammer‑wielding carpenter who’s more about fixing crooked roofs than fighting corporate greed, and the game’s pixel art captures that gritty, neon‑lit city vibe perfectly. The controls are tight, letting you swing the hammer with satisfying weight while dodging obstacles that pop up like mischievous sprites. What makes the title stand out is its blend of platforming precision and a tongue‑in‑cheek premise that turns everyday building tools into weapons of justice. Even after decades, the game’s charm still resonates with anyone who enjoys a retro challenge wrapped in a surprisingly humorous package.

Storyline

Daiku no Gen‑san – Ghost Building Company (often just called Ghost Building Company) follows Harry and his spouse as they stroll down a city street when a sudden wave of ghosts erupts, tearing the city apart. A dark, ruined metropolis gives way to a towering haunted mansion at its center, and four lesser spirits merge into a massive ghost that snatches Harry’s spouse.

The player takes on Harry’s role, racing through the haunted building to rescue the kidnapped partner. Along the way, the looming threat of the evil Ghost Building Company must be dismantled. The ultimate goal is to save the spouse and put an end to the company’s supernatural construction spree.
