Summary
Bonk's Revenge is a 2D pre‑historic platformer that lets you guide the big‑head caveman through outdoors, train, space, and underwater zones. The basic controls are simple: one button jumps, another delivers the signature head‑slam, and a jump‑head‑slam combo sends shock waves into the ground. Holding the slam button makes Bonk spin and hover for precise, long jumps, while his mouth can latch onto certain surfaces for climbing.
Health is tracked by heart containers that can be expanded with blue hearts, and the game rewards fruit and meat items. Eating meat triggers temporary transformations: a small piece freezes enemies with icy clouds, while a larger chunk grants fire‑breath, invincibility, and powerful area attacks.
The Game Boy version adds three alter‑ego forms—Master, Hungry, and Stealth Bonk—each granting speed, stronger head‑butts, or access to secret doors. Collecting tulips launches a bonus showdown against Mechabonk, and defeating him yields an extra life; losing turns Bonk into a more vulnerable mummy version.
Storyline
In Bonk's Revenge for the Game Boy, the oversized‑head caveman Bonk embarks on a fresh quest. He learns that half of the Moon has vanished, leaving the night sky dim and the world unsettled. The culprit is the evil King Drool III, who stole the lunar fragment to boost his own power. Determined to restore balance, Bonk travels through varied stages, battling quirky enemies and overcoming platforming challenges. His ultimate goal is to reclaim the missing half of the Moon and return it to the heavens.
