Summary

Atomic Punk—known as Bomber Boy in Japan and Dynablaster in Europe—brings the classic Bomberman formula to the Game Boy with a few clever twists. The main single‑player experience, called Game A, swaps the series’ usual linear level progression for a world map dotted with nine distinct locations, letting you pick power‑up panels before each round. Those panels, bought with GP earned from speedy clears and block destruction, stick with you across stages, adding a strategic layer to the bomb‑laying chaos. Game B sticks closer to the original formula, but the arena is a tidy square and the screen stays centered on Bomberman, so you never lose sight of the action. In multiplayer, the two Vs. modes each have their own flavor: Panel Mode starts you with a single bomb and introduces Bomb Up and Fire Up panels, while Powerful Mode hands out four bombs and a longer blast radius, but no panels at all. I was impressed by how the password system let you pick up where you left off, and the 81‑point rating from *Mean Machines* called it a "highly addictive" port.
