Battletoads in Ragnarok's World drops you straight into the Dark Queen’s twisted planet, where she’s snatched both your buddy and the prettiest gal in the galaxy. The game leans heavily on classic beat‑em‑up platforming, but throws in racing sections, climbing scrambles, and vehicle‑based obstacle courses that keep the pace frantic.

You start with three lives that refill each time you continue, and a modest six‑point health bar that you can top up by munching flies scattered across the stages. The Toads punch, but the real fun comes from their Smash variants – the cheeky "Kiss‑My‑Fist" and the head‑butt "Battletoad Butt" – plus level‑specific moves like Turbo Thwack and the devastating Nuclear Knuckles.

Every level throws a new hazard: Psyko Pigs, Mutant Ratpack, Robo‑Manus, and the dreaded Saturn Toadtrap test your reflexes, while the Jet Turbo, Space Board and Speed Bike give you a brief chance to zip past the chaos.

Because this is a single‑player only port, there’s no saving or password system; you simply power through the truncated set of stages, hoping your six hit points and a handful of lives are enough to rescue the captives and escape with your green skin intact.

Storyline

Professor T. Bird pilots the Vulture with Rash, Zitz and Pimple while escorting Princess Angelica to her home planet. A leisurely detour in Pimple’s flying car ends in an ambush by the Dark Queen’s ship, the Gargantua, and the princess and Pimple are captured. Pimple’s distress signal sends the professor and the two remaining toads to the surface of Ragnarok’s World, where the Gargantua is hidden, to mount a rescue.

The first stage, Ragnarok Canyon, is guarded by axe‑wielding Psyko‑Pigs and rideable dragons, and ends with the Tall Walker boss that hurls boulders the heroes must return. In Wookie Hole the toads descend through a vertical impact crater, dodging ravens that cut Turbo Cables, Saturn Toadtraps, Retro Blasters and 2,000‑volt Electro Zappers. Ride‑type levels follow: Turbo Tunnel on a Speed Bike, Surf City on a “Space Board” (home to the Big Blag boss), Volkmire’s Inferno on the Toad Plane, and Clinger‑Wringer on unicycles with the Buzzball as its boss.

Platform challenges include Ice Cavern’s snow‑ball puzzles, Karnath’s Lair’s snake‑filled rooms, Intruder Excluder’s vertical climb ending with Robo‑Manus, and Terra Tubes’ underwater gauntlet through the Gargantua’s piping. Rat Race pits the toads against General Slaughter while defusing bombs, and the Revolution stage spirals upward around the Dark Queen’s rotating tower.

At the tower’s summit the Battletoads confront the Dark Queen herself. Defeated, she retreats as a whirlwind into the galaxy’s shadows. With Princess Angelica and Pimple rescued, the crew returns to the Vulture and departs, ending the adventure in Battletoads in Ragnarok’s World.
