Summary

When I fire up Battlezone on the Game Boy, the flat plain dotted with geometric pyramids and a distant volcano feels oddly serene until a lone tank pops up on the radar. I can duck behind those solid blocks, using them as shields while I line up a single shot that instantly wipes out a slow tank, a faster super‑tank, or even a 5,000‑point UFO that never shows up on the radar. The occasional guided missile darts across the screen for a quick 2,000‑point bonus, and every 15,000 points grants an extra life, with a second tank arriving at 100,000. The game’s scoring quirk lets high‑skill players hit seven‑digit scores after a couple of intense hours.

Switching to Super Breakout, the handheld offers three twists on the classic brick‑smashing formula. In Double mode I juggle two paddles and two balls, only losing a life when both balls fall, while points double for each successful juggle. Cavity adds two hidden balls that I must release before they join the main action, rewarding triple points if I keep all three alive. Progressive mode keeps the single paddle but forces the wall to creep downward step by step, speeding up the longer I survive, turning a simple bounce into a tense race against an advancing wall.
