Summary
Balloon Kid lets you take to the skies with Alice, a sprightly heroine who rides two balloons like a tiny aircraft. Pressing A makes her flap her arms and rise, while a quick tap drops a balloon so she can bounce on the ground and even jump onto foes.
The endless‑scrolling levels are peppered with the same feathery birds and hungry giant fish from the original Balloon Fight, but the added bosses demand you detach your balloons and use them as trampolines. Collect the scattered balloons left by Alice’s brother Jim to boost your score, and watch out for enemies that will pop you out of the air. With a Game Link cable you can race a friend in a split‑screen showdown, each trying to hoard more balloons before the stage ends.
Storyline
Balloon Kid follows Alice, a brave girl from the quirky town of Pencilvania, where the skyscrapers look like pencils. She and her younger brother Jim spend their days filling the sky with balloons. One afternoon Jim ties his balloons into a rainbow and a sudden gust lifts him away. Determined, Alice straps two balloons to herself and sets off to chase the trail Jim leaves behind.
The adventure begins in Alice’s modest house on the outskirts of Pencilvania and quickly takes her through a series of distinct locations: a dense forest, a vast ocean guarded by a massive whale, a frozen mountain, and finally an industrial complex. Each area presents platforming challenges that require careful balloon navigation.
The game also offers a two‑player mode where the second player controls Samm, Alice’s frenemy, adding competitive twists to the quest to rescue Jim.
