Summary

Bonk's Adventure, released in Europe as B.C. Kid, is a scrolling platformer that made its way onto the Game Boy thanks to a Hudson Soft publishing deal and Red Company’s involvement. The core mechanic is delightfully simple: Bonk smashes enemies with his oversized, invincible forehead, knocking them back and into the air while racking up points. He starts each level with three hearts of health, which turn blue when damaged, and can replenish them by gathering fruits and vegetables. Meat power‑ups add a layer of strategy—small meat upgrades Bonk to a ground‑stunning stage, while large meat pushes him into a temporary invincibility phase, and eating additional meat resets the timer. Rare red hearts fully restore health, and blue hearts even expand his maximum heart count. Defeated foes drop smiley icons that are tallied after each boss, granting extra points and a caveman‑style congratulation. Later ports were renamed GB‑Kid or simply BC‑Kid, but the quirky forehead‑bashing charm remains the same.

Storyline

The Game Boy platformer B.C. Kid drops players into a fictional prehistoric world. The hero is Bonk, a strong, bald caveboy who fights anthropomorphic dinosaurs and other stone‑age foes.

His quest is to rescue Princess Za, a tiny pink plesiosaur‑type reptile, after she is snatched by the villainous King Drool, a massive green tyrannosaur‑type dinosaur. In the arcade version of the game, Bonk receives help from a female counterpart, but the core rescue mission remains the same.
