Summary

The Amazing Spider‑Man on Game Boy feels like a tiny, punch‑packed playground for anyone who ever dreamed of swinging through New York’s skyline. You start with three lives and three continues, and between each stage you’ll hear Spider‑Man trade snappy one‑liners with a super‑villain over a crackling walkie‑talkie, hinting at the next rooftop or underground lair.

Movement is surprisingly versatile for a handheld: a normal jump, a double‑height leap, and a brief web‑swing that drains a visible web‑meter. While on the ground you can jab with a jaw‑punch, drop into a low side‑kick when crouched, or launch a side‑kick mid‑air; standing still lets you fire a small web glob, which also saps the meter. In the two vertical stages you scale building sides, and a buzzing spider‑sense warns you of falling debris, forcing quick reflexes.

Health and web‑supply are managed by the occasional loot: henchmen drop web vials that refill the web‑meter, while a stray hamburger restores a bit of health. These little pickups keep the action flowing, turning each level into a fast‑paced, comic‑book‑style sprint through Spider‑Man’s chaotic city.

Storyline

In The Amazing Spider-Man for Game Boy, Peter Parker’s secret identity is exposed and his wife, Mary Jane, is kidnapped by his most dangerous foes. The side‑scrolling action game sends Spider‑Man swinging through recognizable city locations, where he must clear out minor thugs and even hostile animals. Each stage culminates in a showdown with a major supervillain—Mysterio, Hobgoblin, Scorpion, Rhino, Doctor Octopus, or Venom. After each boss fight, an intermission scene has the defeated villain taunting Spider‑Man, hinting at clues about Mary Jane’s whereabouts. The player’s progress hinges on defeating these iconic enemies to rescue his wife.
