Summary

Alfred Chicken spins a quirky platform adventure that feels fresh even after all these years. You control a plucky chicken named Alfred, navigating levels littered with balloons, phones, cheese and other off‑beat hazards while hopping, pecking switches and dive‑bombing enemies. Hitting an enemy or a spring while in mid‑air triggers a bounce that can fling you to hidden high platforms, but miss the timing and Alfred gets temporarily stuck in the ground. The game hides power‑ups like a jam‑filled bomb from Mr. Pekles or a whirling worm that shreds foes, each accessed by discovering secret telephones or cans. Two Game Boy releases exist: the original monochrome cartridge and a later Super Game Boy version that adds a level‑select screen thanks to Hookstone and Sunsoft’s Japanese release, later resurfacing on the Game Boy Color as Alfred’s Adventure in 2000.

Storyline

In Alfred Chicken for the Game Boy, you take control of Alfred, a determined chicken on a quirky adventure. The game thrusts him into a series of oddball stages that feel like a surreal playground. Each level is packed with unexpected obstacles—balloons bobbing overhead, ringing telephones that must be avoided, and even piles of cheese that serve as both hazard and platform. The bizarre mix forces you to time jumps and pecks carefully as you guide Alfred toward the exit. Surreal, colorful, and oddly charming, the journey is pure retro puzzling fun.
