Pri Pri: Primitive Princess!
1990 Puzzle
In Aerostar you pilot a sleek, futuristic aircraft that sticks to designated roadways, but you can break free by climbing or diving—though doing so strips you of your guns, forcing you to rely on clever maneuvering. Power‑ups litter the routes, from homing missiles to laser bursts, giving brief moments of firepower before you’re back to dodging. Each stage culminates in a massive boss that tests your reflexes and pattern‑reading skills.
The game’s visual palette jumps from sun‑kissed coastal streets to neon‑lit futuristic corridors riddled with instant‑death spikes, then into dense jungles and even a surreal showdown in outer space. These varied backdrops keep the scrolling action fresh despite the Game Boy’s limited hardware.
Three difficulty settings—easy, normal, hard—let newcomers and veterans alike find a challenge, and the Japanese magazine Famicom Tsūshin gave it modest scores ranging from 3 to 6 out of 10, reflecting its niche appeal.
After the Sixth World War, Earth became an inhospitable wasteland, abandoned by humanity. The Intergalactic Council decided the planet could be reclaimed and dispatched colonists to rebuild civilization. Meanwhile, mutants had flourished in the desolate ruins and refused to cede the world back to humans. To protect the fragile restoration effort, the Council deployed a lone fighter known as Aerostar. Its mission: stop a second wave of total destruction and secure Earth for the returning settlers.
