Summary
Adventures of Lolo on the Game Boy drops you into a sprawling collection of puzzles, divided into five themed worlds – the Entry Level, First Steps in Eden, Dance and Music, Let’s Go to Gentryland, and the tough Pro Level. Across these worlds you’ll wander through 144 distinct scenes, each with its own set‑up of tiles, monsters and décor. The visual style shifts constantly, keeping the experience fresh even as you replay the same core mechanics.
Each room is a compact 11×11 grid where Lolo must gather every Heart Framer to unlock a Jewel Box. Some hearts also hide two magic shots; a distinctive chime tells you when you’ve earned them. Shooting turns enemies into eggs that you can nudge aside – a second shot launches the egg, but the foe will reappear after a short pause. Clearing a box erases monsters and opens the path to the next room.
The puzzles rely on movable Emerald blocks, which you can push to block foes or shield fragile shots, and on safe‑zone grass that monsters can’t step on. Trees and rocks block movement for both sides, while numbered warp holes teleport creatures in a predictable order. Occasional power‑ups – a Hammer to crack a rock, a temporary Bridge for water or lava, and a one‑way Arrow Turn that rotates arrows – add extra layers of strategy. All of this blends action and brain‑teasing into a surprisingly deep handheld adventure.
Storyline
Prince Lolo of Gentryland visits the peaceful land of Eden, where he spends happy days with Princess Lala. Their friendship blossoms amid the country’s love‑filled atmosphere.
One night King Egger, the ruler of Darkness, storms the kingdom, snatches Lala, and retreats to his Castle of the Labyrinth. Determined, Lolo sets out on a long, difficult trek toward the evil fortress. The castle is guarded by countless monsters that obey Egger’s command.
Armed with only courage and patience, Lolo must navigate endless maze‑like rooms, solving puzzles rather than fighting. Each chamber tests his wits, and the only way forward is to outsmart the traps and enemies. The game, known as Adventures of Lolo on the Game Boy, ends when Lolo rescues Lala and restores peace to Eden.
