Summary
Turok 3 delivers a surprisingly deep top‑down experience on the Game Boy Color. You pilot Turok through scrolling arenas, blasting hordes of foes with a varied arsenal while hunting for hidden keys that open new routes. Several stages drop you into a drivable vehicle, letting you smash structures for extra points – a twist that most handheld shooters of the era skipped.
The game runs on the same engine used for Turok: Rage Wars, so the animation is fluid and the controls feel tight. Alberto José González supplies an energetic soundtrack that nods to the series’ legacy. Critics praised the balance of frantic on‑foot combat and vehicle sections, noting smooth scrolling and endless action; the only common gripe was the short playtime, which some could clear in about an hour.
Storyline
Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion on the Game Boy Color drops players into a familiar universe but tells its own tale. In this version, Turok teams up with the peaceful Dinosoids, who are threatened by a radical Dinosoid faction. The rebels are trying to reignite an ancient war that could devastate their world. Turok’s mission is to stop the sect and preserve the fragile peace among the dinosaur‑like beings.
