Summary

Trade & Battle: Card Hero (often just called Card Hero) blends a card‑collecting RPG with tactical board play. Each player controls a single Master card protected by a 2‑HP shield, while monsters are summoned by spending “Stones” from a small hand draw each turn. Monsters sit in a 2×2 grid—front row for bulk fighters with strong adjacent attacks, back row for low‑HP, long‑range magic users—and can level up or evolve if they defeat foes, sometimes even spawning Super Monster cards on top of them.\n\nThe game offers three rule sets: Junior (20‑card decks, 5‑HP Masters), Senior (adds Magic Masters) and Pro (30‑card decks, 10‑HP Magic Masters), each tweaking the deck size and master abilities. Damage only registers on the opponent’s Master if it exceeds the 2‑HP shield, meaning attacks need three or more strength. Rock‑Paper‑Scissors decides who moves first, and every turn you draw three Stones and one card, then command any or all monsters—each can act once per turn.\n\nFamitsu gave the Game Boy Color version a strong 35/40, reflecting how its strategic depth and quirky stone economy still surprise new players today.

Storyline

Trade & Battle: Card Hero follows Hiroshi, a blue‑haired boy living in a town obsessed with the collectible card game Card Hero. Determined to become a master, he travels the streets, hunting for rare cards and challenging anyone willing to duel. Along the way he builds a modest deck, learns new strategies, and faces off against a colorful roster of opponents. The rising threat comes from The Jokers, a mischievous group that sabotages tournaments and steals valuable cards, forcing Hiroshi to protect the game’s integrity. The conflict pushes his ambitions higher, turning a simple hobby into a town‑wide showdown.
