Summary

The race is on, and for the first time I can steer Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Bo Peep and Mr. Potato Head through a turbo‑blasting, remote‑controlled showdown straight out of Disney’s Toy Story world. The Game Boy Color version of Toy Story Racer lets you pick up a quick sprint or dive into a tournament, each race looping through three familiar locales – Andy’s house, his neighborhood, and the neon‑lit Pizza Planet.

What makes it stand out is the use of pre‑rendered full‑motion video for the tracks, giving a surprisingly smooth 3D feel on a handheld. Your character sprite rides the video automatically, while you handle the steering and collect icons that trigger random effects, from sudden slow‑downs to brief invincibility and top‑speed bursts.

Scattered coins boost your high score, and hidden unlockables – a little green man and an army soldier – add a neat surprise for completionists. All of this packs a surprisingly deep kart‑racing experience into a tiny cartridge.
