Summary

Puchi Carat turns the classic brick‑breaker formula into a gem‑matching puzzle. I guide a paddle along the bottom of the screen, ricocheting a ball upward to shatter gem‑like blocks that descend one line at a time. When a gem is hit, any other gems that lose their connection to the top fall away, rewarding extra points, and flashing gems trigger a cascade that wipes out every gem of the same hue. Metallic blocks add a tougher layer, needing several hits before they break.

Missing the ball doesn’t end the game; instead, it forces new gem lines to appear from the top, raising the pressure. The playfield also pushes down automatically after a timer or when cleared, and if the gems cross the paddle line, the session ends.

The arcade version offers three core modes: a single‑player challenge to clear a set number of lines, a story mode where each character battles head‑to‑head and sends cleared gems to the opponent’s field, and a two‑player versus mode that mirrors the story rules. Ports expand the experience with time‑attack challenges, extra difficulty settings, and deeper character storylines.

Storyline

In *Puchi Carat* the setting is the world of GemStone, a place where science and magic live side by side. Twelve precious gems are stolen and each one falls into the hands of a person wielding great magical power, allowing those individuals to dominate the world. The game follows twelve distinct characters, each with their own personal story. Every character embarks on a quest to gather all of the stolen gems, believing that doing so will let them achieve their individual dreams. The intertwining tales of ambition and adventure drive the storyline of Puchi Carat.
