Summary

MTV Sports: Pure Ride packs a surprising amount of variety for a handheld snowboarding title. You can drop into a classic Slopestyle run, tackle a tour challenge that throws half‑pipes and other events at you, or dive into a stunt mode that lets you chain jumps, tricks and grinds into one fluid combo. The most playful feature is the Build a Mountain mode, where you literally place cars, trees and rails across three distinct environments to craft your own course.

The soundtrack even sneaks a bit of early‑2000s alt‑rock into the mix, with Incubus’s "Privilege" looping behind your runs. That musical cue helps the game feel more like a MTV‑styled experience than a typical snow‑boarding clone.

The PlayStation version debuted at E3 2000 and hit North American shelves on September 28, while the Game Boy Color version followed on November 29. Critics gave the console version mixed or average scores on Metacritic, but the handheld’s mode‑rich design still manages to keep the ride fresh long after the snow melts.
