Summary

Mission: Impossible for the Game Boy Color packs a surprising amount of gadgetry into a handheld adventure. The game lets you step into Ethan Hunt’s shoes across ten compact levels, each built around the spy‑film vibe of the franchise. Beyond the core stealth, the cartridge hides a suite of utilities – a calculator, an address book and a notebook that can print entries when you hook up a Game Boy Printer. Two more tricks, a message transmitter and a universal remote, make use of the system’s infrared port, turning the little console into a miniature spy kit. Critics were split; while the extra features earned nods, the gameplay itself drew harsh comparisons to Metal Gear: Ghost Babel. N64 Magazine dismissed it as “painfully average,” noting that enemies follow fixed routes and never react to the player’s presence.
