Summary

Microsoft Pinball Arcade on the Game Boy Color lets you step into five classic Gottlieb tables, ranging from the 1931 Baffle Ball to the spooky 1982 Haunted House. Each machine comes with its own digital manual, trivia nuggets and a short quiz, turning a quick play session into a mini‑history lesson. The handheld version sticks to the original rule‑sets, but it trims the full seven‑table lineup by leaving out Humpty Dumpty and Cue Ball Wizard.

Critics praised the faithful recreation of sound effects and the surprisingly detailed graphics for a portable system, with GameSpot calling the ball physics “realistic.” Nintendo Power, however, noted the ball’s “curiously slow” movement, a point echoed by Pixel Addict in 2025, which called the simulation “good but a little glacial.” IGN admired the visuals yet found much of the gameplay and audio dull, though it singled out Haunted House as a highlight. CGW and GameRoom both emphasized the historical charm and the impressive audiovisual fidelity, reminding us that even a digital pinball machine can feel like the real thing.
