Summary
Mickey's Speedway USA on the Game Boy Color brings the familiar Disney cast into a tight isometric kart‑racing world. Six racers—Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy and Pete—are balanced in three stat groups: average, handling/acceleration, and speed/weight. The game offers Grand Prix, time trial and split‑screen multiplayer, with each Grand Prix split into three difficulty tiers that unlock new characters, cheat codes and a printable image gallery via the Game Boy Printer.
The 20 tracks span iconic American locales such as Los Angeles, Washington D.C. and the Grand Canyon, each divided into three‑lap courses peppered with Oomph tokens, boosters and mischievous items like baseballs and paint cans. A special bonus circuit appears when you link the cartridge to the infrared port of the N64 version, Mickey’s Racing Adventure.
Collecting gold trophies in every difficulty unlocks the driving‑school tutorial missions and expands the gallery, encouraging players to perfect their cornering before taking on the next challenge.
Storyline
In Mickey's Speedway USA (often just called Mickey's Speedway), Mickey learns that his dog Pluto has been snatched by the mischievous Weasels, who claim his collar is studded with diamonds. He rings up Minnie, Donald, Daisy and Goofy for help, but Pete overhears the call and tails the group. Professor Ludwig von Drake supplies each of them with a custom race car so they can chase clues faster.
The team follows a trail of postcards the Weasels leave across the United States, racing from city to city in a frantic cross‑country pursuit. At the final showdown they win a high‑speed race, capture the Weasels and send them to jail. Pluto is reunited with Mickey, and the “diamonds” turn out to be ordinary glass beads from an old Minnie necklace. Satisfied, the friends drive home together.
