Playing as Pepper Roni in LEGO Island 2: The Brickster's Revenge feels like a treasure hunt across a colorful LEGO world. I wander the islands, hunting down Constructopedia pages and handing them to quirky locals who then assemble helpful structures, gradually reshaping the landscape.

The game is essentially a chain of mini‑games, and the more observant I am, the more hidden LEGO character cards I uncover as a sweet bonus for exploring every nook and cranny.

Each island hides its own collectible trinkets: Castle Island is dotted with chalices, Adventurers Island with red gems, and Ogel Island with yellow crystals, all of which boost my score when gathered.

Critics were split on the experience; IGN’s review of the Game Boy Color version called it "mediocre" and gave it a 5‑out of‑10, reflecting the mixed reception the title received overall.

Storyline

The game opens much like the original LEGO Island, with Pepper delivering a pizza to the Brickster in jail. The Brickster gobbles the peppers, melts the bars with fiery breath and escapes, stealing the police helicopter and the Constructopedia – a book whose pages deconstruct buildings when torn out. Pepper must chase him through three distinct worlds, collecting the missing pages and rebuilding the island while using pizzas to blast the Brickster Bots that appear.

After retrieving four pages on LEGO Island, Pepper defeats more bots in the Information Center and sails to Castle Island. There he reconstructs the broken bridge between the Lions and the Bulls, dives past sharks, cannon fire and skeleton pirates, and then jousts the Dark Knight to win the Bulls’ flag. By beating the stubborn bull leader Cedric, Pepper secures another Constructopedia page and returns to the main island.

A boombox later replaces pizzas as the weapon against the bots, and Pepper is whisked by helicopter to Adventurers’ Island. In the desert he teams up with Johnny Thunder and Pippin Reed, stops snakes from stealing gems, solves the Sphinx’s symbol puzzle, and races Dr. Kilroy’s Speedster through rocks, tornadoes and UFOs to the Oasis where a fish named Big Bertha swallows a page. After a brief biplane flight to the jungle, Pepper rides a T‑rex to Mr. Hates’ camp, frees captured dinosaurs and grabs the final page, completing the island‑wide recovery.

Back on LEGO Island Pepper trains for space travel because the Brickster has fled to Planet Ogel – “LEGO” spelled backwards. He practices centrifugal‑force drills and parachute jumps, then pilots a shuttle through asteroids, jumps out, and parachutes onto Ogel. There he helps Mama and Papa Brickolini bake sleepy‑inducing pizzas, scales a tower full of moving platforms, and hurls spicy pizzas at the Brickster until the villain locks himself in a bathroom, effectively re‑jailing him.

With the Brickster finally contained, Pepper and the Brickolinis return to LEGO Island for a celebration, having restored every building and reclaimed the Constructopedia. This quirky adventure is the core storyline of LEGO Island 2: The Brickster’s Revenge on the Game Boy Color.
