What’s neat is that the title predates the other GBC entry, serving as the prequel to Monster Wars, so it actually sets the tone for the later matchup mode. Crave Entertainment handled publishing, and they managed to push enough color into the cartridge to make the monster’s green scales pop. Storyline

In Godzilla: The Series for Game Boy Color, a giant electric monster called The Crackler attacks New York City. Godzilla battles the creature while scientist Randy Hernandez searches for a way to stop it, eventually defeating The Crackler after its creator confronts his emotions. After the fight, Niko Tatopoulos contacts Major Anthony Hicks to halt further attacks on the hero, but no orders exist, and Godzilla is chased by a helicopter before escaping to a nearby island. There, military forces and a swarm of Giant Mutant Bees assault him; he defeats the bees and their queen, then continues against more troops, Cyber Flies and an enormous tank. H.E.A.T. investigates tar on a beach linked to missing swimmers, fights a Mutant Giant Squid and later a Crustaceous Rex that uses the tar to immobilize Godzilla, but the king prevails. Cameron Winter admits he’s been using Solstice Technologies weapons and a control device to provoke the attacks; N.I.G.E.L. dismantles the machine. Godzilla then destroys upgraded Solstice helicopters, tanks, and the Solstice Industries facility before returning with H.E.A.T. to protect New York City.
