Storyline

Ganbare Goemon: Tengutou no Gyakushuu on the Game Boy Color drops players into a quirky time‑travel adventure.

The story follows Hajime, an energetic fourth‑grader visiting his grandmother in the countryside when he hears a local legend about a towering tree in a nearby forest. Curious, he squeezes through a massive hole in the tree’s trunk, only to be ambushed by a shady bandit and whisked back to Edo‑period Japan. He manages to call on the merchant Ebisu Maru for a narrow rescue.

There he meets the legendary thief Goemon, who is currently hunting the Tengu Party on the Mountain of Deception to reclaim a stolen treasure. Together, Hajime, Goemon, and their allies race to stop the Tengu thieves and save Japan from chaos.
