Summary
Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 – Cobi's Journey lets you assemble a team of creatures and explore static dungeons that each hide a magic key. The stages have set objectives, but optional random rooms still reward the curious. You can only have three monsters out at once; the rest wait at the siblings’ ranch. Link‑cable support enables two‑player battles, monster trading between the two versions, and even the chance to steal a rival’s beast during PvP. Unlocking all keys requires a partner with the opposite version.
Recruiting works by offering treats, winning the encounter, then feeding and petting the monster to raise affection, which sharpens obedience and speeds skill growth. Level‑10 male‑female pairs can be taken to Professor Monster at the Starry Shrine, where the parents disappear and a new offspring is born. With more than three hundred monsters across eleven families—including fresh faces from Dragon Quest VII—the collection stays fresh. Trading with anyone who has Cobi’s Journey or Tara’s Adventure fills gaps, and PvP steals keep battles exciting.
Storyline
In Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 – Cobi's Journey, brother Cobi and his sister Tara belong to a family of monster breeders who relocate to the island of Greatlog to run a monster ranch. Their peaceful plans are quickly shattered when the island’s prince, Kameha, and his scheming assistant Warubou confront the duo, revealing a plot to sink Greatlog. To stop the disaster, Cobi (or Tara, depending on the player’s choice) must travel through five distinct worlds, hunting for magical keys and the mysterious plug that can halt the island’s descent. Along the way, they train a legion of Dragon Warrior Monsters, preparing them for battles against the prince’s forces. Collecting the hidden keys and mastering their monsters is the only way to save Greatlog from sinking beneath the sea.
