Summary

Densha de Go! 2 is a train‑driving simulation that first rolled out in Japanese arcades before making its way to a surprising array of home systems, from the PlayStation and Dreamcast down to the Game Boy Color. I love how the handheld version squeezes the same high‑speed challenge into a tiny screen, letting you pilot the same routes as the arcade cabinet.

The game packs 13 different vehicles into 16 missions across seven iconic lines – the Hokuhoku, Akita Shinkansen, Ōu Main, Tazawako, Keihin‑Tōhoku, Yamanote, and the Tōkaidō Main Line. Each route feels distinct, demanding precise timing and a feel for each train’s quirks.

To celebrate hitting 3,000 arcade machines, Taito released a special edition called Densha de Go! 2 Kōsoku‑hen 3000‑bandai, which later appeared on the Dreamcast, adding a little extra polish for fans who wanted more of the high‑speed thrill.
