Summary

When I first popped Croc 2 into my Game Boy Color, the bright hub felt instantly inviting. The game drops you into an open world of four Gobbo villages, each packed with short, open‑ended levels that you access from the central hub. I spend most of my time chasing Dantini, rescuing trapped Gobbos, or hopping into quirky vehicles—go‑kart, hang‑glider, snowball—just to reach hidden crystals.

Collectibles are the true itch‑scratchers: 100 regular crystals, plus five multicolored gems that unlock a golden trophy after a tiny platform puzzle. Gathering every trophy in a village reveals a secret puzzle piece; once I’ve assembled all the pieces the hidden fifth world opens, remixing the earlier stages.

The game adds a triple jump and flip jump to Croc’s repertoire, and his tail swipes full‑circle for combat. I can buy heart pots, trampoline‑style Gummi Savers, and even a tiny Clockwork Gobbo from the cat‑run shop, which make reaching obscure platforms feel rewarding rather than frustrating.

Storyline

The plot takes place months after Croc: Legend of the Gobbos. Professor Gobbo is captured by Dantinis while witnessing Baron Dante's resurrection. Croc finds a bottle on a beach with a plea from a child and a crocodile footprint, brings it to King Rufus, who sends him to search distant Gobbos for help. A giant see‑saw launches Croc to the Mainland.
On the Mainland Croc is welcomed by Gobbo villagers who already know him. Each village has its own biome and culture, but Baron Dante sends Dantini minions and bosses to block Croc. Croc must defeat the Dantinis and the Baron's major minions in every village.
After the Inca Village Croc battles Baron Dante in a makeshift airplane, rescues Professor Gobbo in the Dungeon of Defright, and protects him while a portal is opened. The game ends with Croc and the professor flying to a small island to reunite with Croc’s family, then retrieving stolen eggs by collecting Jigsaw Pieces, Golden Gobbos, and Colored Crystals in a secret world. Collecting three eggs completes the game.
