Summary

Championship Motocross 2001 Featuring Ricky Carmichael carries the name of the sport’s biggest star, marking the second THQ‑backed title to ride on his reputation after the original Championship Motocross. The game’s development was a joint effort between Tiertex Design Studios and Funcom Dublin, two studios that blended their expertise to squeeze a full‑throttle motocross experience onto handheld hardware. THR’s involvement ensured the Ricky Carmichael endorsement felt authentic, giving fans a sense that they were really on the track with the champion. Released for both the Game Boy Color and the PlayStation, the title had to balance the limited palette and processing power of the handheld with the more robust capabilities of the console. This dual‑platform approach let players enjoy the same brand of high‑speed racing whether they were at home on a TV or on the go with a portable console.
