Summary
Harvest Moon 2 GBC (known in Japan as Bokujō Monogatari GB2) drops you onto a struggling farm that’s slated to become an amusement park unless you can turn the soil around in three years. You can pick a boy or a girl avatar, wander the town, and even build a sheep pen, greenhouse, and a full‑scale hothouse that lets you grow flowers and herbs year‑round. The mayor swings by after the first year to judge your progress, and if the farm looks bleak you’ll get a second chance to revive it.
Livestock management feels deeper than the original GBC title: you can raise up to four cows, chickens, or sheep, each with mood‑linked production—large milk, daily eggs, or wool that fetches 250 G when the animals are happy. A dog will chase off nocturnal predators, while a cat occasionally drops seeds, and by the first fall you can adopt a horse that matures for riding by the second spring. Tools, feeding, and brushing keep the herd content, and a well‑tended greenhouse cushions you against seasonal limits.
The game also introduced a wildlife catalog: fish are logged by species, insects can be caught in the mountains, and every find appears in the town library’s picture books. Using the Game Link Cable you can trade fish, insects, and even exclusive flowers with another Harvest Moon 2 copy or Legend of the River King 2. Hidden arcade‑style mini‑games like Mole Bash and the Cherry Cup Horse Race unlock through play and can be launched from the TV in your farmhouse.
Storyline
Bokujou Monogatari GB2 (known as Harvest Moon GB2) puts you in charge of restoring your grandfather’s neglected farm on the Game Boy Color. You’ll start by raising a handful of cows, chickens and sheep, tending to their needs so they stay happy and productive. As the animals thrive, they generate income that lets you expand the farm and improve your livelihood. Along the way, a cast of friendly townsfolk offers advice, tools, and occasional help, making the world feel lively and supportive. The core goal is simple: rebuild the farm, keep the livestock content, and watch your prosperity grow.
