Balloon Fight GB brings the classic Balloon Kid platforming to the Game Boy Color with a splash of color and a handy save system. The game lets you control Alice as she drifts on two balloons, using the A button to hover and the option to drop a balloon for ground‑based walking or jumping. Across eight stages you’ll gather balloons left behind, dodge Balloon Birds, a looming fish, and four distinct bosses that can be tackled by circling, bouncing off detached balloons, or leaping onto them. A dedicated Balloon Trip mode turns the experience into a pure score‑chase, encouraging you to rack up points and climb the leaderboards. For a competitive twist, the two‑player mode pits Alice against rival Samm to see who can collect the most balloons, while the cartridge’s battery‑backed memory lets you pick up any cleared stage at any time. The title also supports Super Game Boy frames and later appeared on the Japanese 3DS Virtual Console, preserving its vibrant look for modern handhelds.
Balloon Fight GB (often just called Balloon Fight) follows the story of Alice, a young girl whose brother Jim creates a balloon rainbow and is swept away by a strong wind. Determined to rescue him, Alice chases the trail of balloons Jim leaves behind across a small slice of an unnamed Earth‑like world. The adventure begins in a rural house in the town of Pencilvania, a place notable for its pencil‑shaped skyscrapers, and then leads her through a forest, an ocean where a giant whale swims, an icy mountain, and an industrial building, collecting the scattered balloons along the way. The cast is simple: Alice the protagonist, her younger brother Jim, and Samm, her frenemy who appears only in two‑player mode.
