Summary

Animorphs on the Game Boy Color feels like a handheld homage to the Pokémon formula, but with a sci‑fi twist. You command a squad of familiar characters, each able to "capture" new morphs that become usable in turn‑based battles, swapping abilities on the fly to exploit enemy weaknesses. The RPG elements are surprisingly deep for a handheld of its era, letting you explore the series’ broader cast and experiment with dozens of creature combinations.

Among the three Animorphs titles released for the platform, this one earned the most praise, largely because its battle system and the way it leverages the franchise’s extended universe feel polished and engaging. It’s a neat blend of strategy and fan service that still holds up as a quirky, nostalgic RPG.
