Summary

4X4 World Trophy, known in North America as Test Drive Off‑Road 3, is a rally‑style off‑road racer that landed on the Game Boy Color in the early 2000s. The handheld version captures the gritty feel of mud‑splattered tracks while keeping the controls tight enough for quick pick‑ups on the go.

Developed by Xantera and published by Infogrames, the game was part of a broader multi‑platform push that also saw releases on Windows and PlayStation. A Dreamcast edition was slated but never saw the light of day, reportedly due to last‑minute release complications. Despite its modest hardware, the title managed to deliver a surprisingly deep sense of speed and terrain variety, making it a hidden gem for portable racing fans.
