Summary

Worms Blast turns a classic bubble‑popping formula into something a bit squirmier. You pilot a tiny boat across a sea of hexagonal blocks, sliding left and right while firing a bazooka, grenades, dynamite or other Worms‑style weapons at the colorful bricks above. Holding the fire button boosts the launch power, letting you loft an arcing shot to hit those hard‑to‑reach corners.

If your projectile matches a block’s hue—or hits a rainbow piece—that group explodes, potentially pulling unsupported blocks into the water for massive chain reactions. Miss the color and you simply repaint the tile, reshaping the puzzle with each shot. Every worm comes with its own vessel, each boasting different health, speed, turning and size stats, adding a subtle layer of strategy.

Beyond the solo puzzles, the game ships a slew of multiplayer modes—Deathmatch, Star Collection, Tide Trial, and more—though the GBA version skips the dedicated BLAST mode. It’s a quirky hybrid that lets fans of Worms and Puzzle Bobble alike chew through challenges from a nautical perch.

Storyline

In Worms Blast’s single‑player puzzle mode, you guide the worms on a globe‑spanning trek that feels a bit like the classic arcade game Pang. Each stop on the map presents a self‑contained puzzle that grows tougher as you progress, ranging from blasting block‑built spaceships to dodging a winding snake of blocks that slithers across the screen. The ultimate goal is to push forward until you finally arrive at the volcano sitting at the world’s centre. Along the way, hitting specific milestones on the map unlocks new worm characters, rewarding players who reach those hidden points with fresh playable options.
