Summary

Winning Post puts you in the saddle of a thoroughbred owner, letting you shape a stable from the ground up. You can hire breeders, trainers and jockeys, decide which horses to breed and what training regimen they follow, and watch their stats climb as you aim for the legendary Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. The game offers more than 240 races ranging from modest local meets to high‑stakes international events, and winnings let you upgrade staff and acquire stronger bloodlines. Betting is also part of the experience, though the actual races are viewed only as a spectator – you never control the horse during the run.

Originally part of Koei’s long‑running Winning Post series, the GBA version landed in March 2001, bringing the depth of the Japan‑only franchise to a handheld audience. While most entries stayed exclusive to Japan, this portable title gave Western players a rare glimpse of Koei’s sophisticated horse‑racing simulation.

Storyline

In Winning Post, you step into the shoes of a horse owner, embracing the romantic life of managing a stable. You interact daily with trainers, stable hands, and jockeys, making decisions that shape each horse’s career. The game’s core goal is to raise a champion capable of competing in the prestigious Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. Every training session, breeding choice, and race strategy brings you closer to that ultimate showdown, blending personal storytelling with the thrill of top‑level horse racing.
