Summary

Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2: Bush Rescue arrives on the Game Boy Advance as a 2D side‑scrolling platformer, a stark contrast to its 3D console siblings. Halfbrick stripped away the open‑world vehicle roaming and replaced it with a simple overworld map where enemies appear in real time. Touching an enemy triggers a driving‑style minigame that forces you to blast the foes before you can continue, echoing the tension of Bionic Commando. The go‑kart races and split‑screen multiplayer that defined the console experience are completely omitted, leaving the focus on classic run‑and‑jump action. While the core mission structure—helping townsfolk, delivering items, and taking down bosses—remains, the handheld version feels tighter and more linear, offering a nostalgic platforming bite for fans of the series.

Storyline

Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2: Bush Rescue picks up right after the first game’s climax. Using his father’s Doomerang, Ty defeats Boss Cass’s Neo Fluffy X mech, recovers the final talisman and frees his parents from the Dreaming, while Cass is taken into custody.

A few weeks later Cass’s henchmen launch a surprise assault on Currawong. Ty, his girlfriend Shazza, Ranger Ken and Duke join Maurie, Sly and the police, battling dropships and giant Daemon Fluffy mechs with Ty’s Battle Bunyip suit. Fluffy’s Bunyip breaks into Currawong Jail, freeing Cass; the heroes rescue their downed allies but Cass and Fluffy escape, leaving Ty vowing to be ready for their next clash.

Two months on, Dennis the green tree frog inaugurates “Bush Rescue,” a peace‑keeping force based in Burramudgee. The team learns that Cass has declared his own nation, Cassopolis, and now enjoys diplomatic immunity. While on routine missions, Ty repeatedly runs into Fluffy, who sends the cyber‑enhanced Ankylosaurus Patchy and the nanobot monster Buster to thwart him. Fluffy also steals a Shadow Drive from the Wuli Wuli Oil Rig, which Cass uses to create an Uber Frill – a genetically‑modified bioweapon made from a kidnapped koala’s blood and a Frill Lizard henchman.

After stealing a Data N.U.T. from Fluffy’s coastal fortress, Ty discovers Cass’s plan to abduct Burramudgee’s citizens for mass‑producing Uber Frills. Cass’s minions assault Bush Rescue HQ, kidnapping most of the town’s mammals. Ty, Shazza, Sly and Duke launch a final assault on Cassopolis, each piloting a different Bunyip suit (Shadow, Missile and standard). Ty defeats Cass’s remaining henchmen, kisses Shazza, and confronts Cass in a volcanic arena where a nanobot‑formed robot called Armstrong (Armstrong in the GBA version) battles him. Ty destroys Armstrong and finally defeats Cass, who is returned to prison for lunch duty.

With the crisis averted, Ty, Shazza and Sly receive medals from Dennis. Achieving 100 % completion triggers a secret epilogue: the elder Nandu Gili appears via astral projection, inviting Ty and Shazza to the Dream Time, where they encounter three mysterious creatures.
