Summary
The Sum of All Fears on the Game Boy Advance feels like a stripped‑down version of Rogue Spear, trading the series’ intricate planning for a top‑down, run‑and‑gun vibe. You command a three‑man anti‑terrorist squad that drops in on a pre‑set insertion point, but the game lets you wander off the scripted route and pick your own path through the level. Instead of micromanaging gear for each operative, you choose from a handful of preset load‑outs that outfit the whole team, then you can hop between the two teammates you control while issuing simple commands like “wait,” “follow,” or “clear the next room with a grenade or flashbang.” The mechanics are a clear nod to the Rainbow Six formula, yet they’re boiled down to fit the handheld’s limits, which is why reviewers called the experience average. Still, the title moved over 400 000 units by the end of 2002, showing that the simplified tactical action resonated with a surprisingly large audience.
Storyline
The Sum of All Fears on Game Boy Advance opens with two missions set during the film. The FBI Hostage Rescue Team (HRT) storms a television station in Charleston, West Virginia, rescuing hostages and dismantling a militia called the Mountain Men.
From the third mission onward, John Clark recruits the team into CIA service. Players then hunt down the conspirators behind a nuclear bomb that detonated during an American football game in Baltimore, killing a large number of people.
