Summary

The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie on the Game Boy Advance spins the film’s wildness into a handheld platformer that still feels quirky.
WayForward packed the game into six distinct worlds, each capped by its own boss. I love how the life system forces you to master jumps rather than relying on endless retries. There’s no save slot, so progress is held on a password sheet you grab after clearing each area.
Story bits appear as static panels with on‑screen text, echoing the PC version’s comic‑book feel. Bonus stages pepper the adventure, keeping the pacing fresh on a device where cartridge space is tight. Overall it's a compact slice of sponge‑filled action that still stands out among GBA side‑scrollers.

Storyline

The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie on Game Boy Advance follows the film’s basic premise while adding its own twists. Plankton’s latest scheme, “Plan Z,” involves stealing King Neptune’s crown, shipping it to Shell City, and pinning the theft on Mr. Krabs. With Mr. Krabs framed, Bikini Bottom’s future hangs in the balance. SpongeBob and Patrick are given six days to travel to Shell City, recover the crown, and clear Mr. Krabs’s name. Their quest mirrors the movie’s adventure but includes extra challenges and level designs unique to the handheld version.
