Summary

The Cat in the Hat for Game Boy Advance turns the whimsical chaos of the 2003 film into a tight 2.5‑D platform adventure. Beyond the usual run‑and‑jump sections, the cartridge hides four underwater levels where you scuba dive to recover fragments of the mysterious Crab Lock, adding a splash of variety to the pacing. A quirky bonus stage lets the Cat hop into his iconic cleaning machine, racing to snare Thing One and Thing Two before they scatter the screen. As you progress, each stage scatters themed icons and the remnants of foes you’ve dispatched, rewarding thorough exploration. Digital Eclipse’s hand‑crafted levels feel surprisingly polished for a licensed title, and Vivendi Universal Games’ publishing push gave it a solid shelf presence during the movie’s hype wave.

Storyline

On a stormy day Conrad and his sister Sally are stuck inside their house while their mother is away. The Cat in the Hat arrives to cheer them up, but their next‑door neighbor Larry Quinn steals the Crablock that seals the Cat’s magical crate, letting magic spill into the home and threaten the world. The Cat must travel through a series of stages that are everyday rooms and objects now corrupted by the rogue magic, guided by the family’s talking fish.

With each level the Cat recaptures the stray magic and pursues Quinn, who is trying to harness the power for himself. After the Cat cleans the house of all the magical chaos and defeats Quinn, the Crablock reattaches to the crate, sealing the magic away once more. The Game Boy Advance version of The Cat in the Hat (TrashMan) follows this plot, except that Conrad removes the lock himself and Quinn does not appear in the handheld adaptation.
