Summary

Super Monkey Ball Jr. lets you tilt a 3‑D labyrinth on the Game Boy Advance, guiding a monkey‑in‑a‑ball to the finish before the clock runs out. You can pick from AiAi, MeeMee, Baby or GonGon, and the same character can be chosen by up to four players in the party modes. A neat twist is the ability to speed up or slow down the tilt with the A and B buttons, giving a finer feel than earlier handheld entries. The game recycles classic levels from the series while showcasing the GBA’s rare 3‑D capabilities, and it was the final title Creations produced before being bought by Acclaim. Multiplayer shines with Monkey Duel’s banana‑racing showdown, plus the returning Monkey Bowling, Monkey Fight and Monkey Golf – the first two even work on a single system by alternating turns. Critics responded warmly, averaging 82 on Metacritic, with IGN awarding 9/10 for replay value and GameSpot giving 8/10, while Game Informer praised its ambition despite noting slightly off‑kilter controls. In 2023, IGN ranked it the 25th‑best GBA game ever.
