Summary
Starsky & Hutch on the Game Boy Advance brings the 70s‑era cop duo to a handheld with a surprisingly ambitious structure. The game is split into three "seasons" of episodes, each tasking you with chase‑downs, escorts, and keeping the fictional Viewer Ratings up by hitting bonus icons that grant better grip, stronger weapons, or extra points. What makes the GBA version stand out is its asymmetric two‑player mode: one player steers Starsky’s iconic car while the other fires from Hutch’s gun, and the setup even works with light‑gun accessories that were rare on the platform. The original voice of Huggy Bear, Antonio Fargas, narrates the action, giving the whole experience an authentic 70s TV vibe. Development started back in 2001, and after a series of announcements the handheld version finally hit North America on March 9 2004 under BAM! Entertainment’s distribution. Critics were harsh, and Metacritic records the GBA port as generally unfavorable, but the quirky multiplayer and nostalgic presentation still make it a curious footnote for retro collectors.
