Summary

SpongeBob SquarePants: Creature from the Krusty Krab on the Game Boy Advance flips the console versions into a crisp 2‑D side‑scroller, letting you zip through Bikini Bottom’s wackiest dreamscapes. WayForward Technologies built a fresh experience with three playable heroes—SpongeBob, his superhero alter‑ego Patrick Starfishman, and the scheming Sheldon J. Plankton—each tackling nine distinct worlds. The game stitches together four styles of play: soaring flight sections that demand precise obstacle navigation, rampage bouts where a laser power bar fuels your attacks, fuel‑gathering races, and classic platforming puzzles. Its art direction feels like a never‑seen take on the show, and the mechanics feel surprisingly deep for a handheld title. Critics gave it a respectable 72.5 % on Metacritic, noting the clever blend of variety and charm.

Storyline

SpongeBob SquarePants: Creature From the Krusty Krab (often just called Creature From the Krusty Krab) unfolds inside the intertwined dreams of SpongeBob, Patrick and Plankton, each of whom must survive a wildly surreal adventure. In SpongeBob’s dream his bed becomes a hot‑rod that races across a bizarre, Ed‑Roth‑inspired Bikini Bottom. After a series of races against Plankton, Gary and a rival “Piston Patrick,” he crashes into a pit, is swallowed by an Alaskan Bull Worm, and teams up with Old Man Jenkins to build an escape plane before the worm’s mouth snaps shut.

Patrick’s segment shifts to a comic‑book world where he plays the superhero Starfish‑Man, battling the villainous Dreaded Patrick who is turning the city into a shrine of gold statues and torch altars. After rescuing a civilian on a train track and gathering laundry detergent for the mayor, Starfish‑Man confronts Dreaded Patrick in a rocket‑laden lair, gets launched into space, destroys a UFO‑shaped patty, and ultimately watches the villain tumble back to Earth.

Plankton’s dream begins with an Enlargatron Ray that over‑grows a Krabby Patty into a monstrous creature. After a failed attempt to shrink it, Plankton uses a freeze ray, becomes a giant atomic mutant, and rampages through Bikini Bottom chasing the patty. The chase ends on a radio tower where SpongeBob topples Plankton, only for Starfish‑Man, Mermaid Man and the Bikini Bottom Defense Force to intervene, shrink Plankton with a experimental ray, and lead the trio into a final dream bubble.

A doctor made of a Krabby Patty explains that the bizarre dreams stem from the patties’ chemical effect. The player must collect Sleepy Seeds to unlock Patrick and Plankton, then race for a Krabby Patty trophy. The ending varies: SpongeBob returns the patty to the Krusty Krab, Patrick crashes into a door, or Plankton’s empire is crushed by raining patties. The ultimate reveal is that Gary ate the patty, dreaming the whole saga, and wakes up just as SpongeBob is about to eat the dream‑patty, only to be swallowed by the Bull Worm once more.
