Summary
Shining Soul II spins a classic dungeon‑crawling hack‑and‑slash on the Game Boy Advance, feeling like a portable slice of Diablo. The game drops you into the kingdom of Klantol where a royal tournament beckons, but the real action lies in ten story dungeons and eight hidden ones, each filled with loot and monsters.
Eight distinct classes—from the balanced Warrior to the swift Ninja—can be leveled to a staggering 200. Each class wields up to three weapons and three items, swaps them on the fly, and unlocks class‑specific spells and support abilities such as the Priestess’s heals or the Dark Wizard’s cursed blasts.
Equipment depth deepens with backpacks adding extra slots and “Soul” items that charge through combat to unleash element‑graded devastations. Resistances to fire, ice, lightning, light, dark and poison grow by taking hits of the same type.
The link‑cable multiplayer mimics co‑op Diablo runs: you and friends explore together, trade items on the battlefield, and only advance when every character exits or falls. Class synergies—like the Archer’s summons or the Brawler’s brute force—make coordinated play rewarding.
Storyline
Shining Soul II opens centuries after the Dark Dragon's defeat in the original game. The crystal owned by King Marcel and Queen Yvonne of Klantol, which mirrors the balance of light and darkness, turns cloudy, signaling a resurgence of darkness. An alchemist named Gillespie of the Chaos Knights infiltrates the royal knight Deatharte, leaving the cursed "forbidden fruit" that corrupts Deatharte when he eats it.
When the Klantol Colosseum tournament is halted by news of Princess Camille's kidnapping, Marcel sends the tournament's promising young champion—your character—to investigate a goblin uprising. The hero discovers the goblins delivered Camille to the witch Wizari, defeats the witch and frees the princess, then learns that the Chaos Knights are planning world conquest. Camille later uncovers the password to their hidden stronghold, but is trapped in Koldazhek Cave until rescued.
Guided by a former knight, the hero breaches the Chaos Knights' lair, slays Gillespie and the now-leader Deatharte, and triggers a violent shift toward pure light. The surge awakens the primordial force Chaos, which drags Marcel, Yvonne, Camille and the court wizard away. After a perilous descent into Chaos's realm, the hero defeats the entity, rescues the captives and restores the world's balance.
