Summary

Salt Lake 2002 is the official video game of the XIX Olympic Winter Games, and it packs a surprisingly varied experience onto the Game Boy Advance. The title was built by Attention to Detail and, for the handheld, published by DC Studios under the Ubi Soft banner, while the console versions came from Eidos Interactive. You can jump straight into the Olympic mode – no qualifying rounds – and watch each win get logged in a neat trophy room, or switch to Tournament, Classic or Time‑Trial for a different pacing. The events feel uneven: downhill and slalom skiing are surprisingly smooth (you even get a first‑person view on the downhill), but ski jumping and two‑man bobsleigh can feel erratic and hard to control. Sixteen nations are represented, from the United States to Norway, and the roster includes men’s downhill, women’s slalom, aerial freestyle, ski jump K120, two‑man bobsleigh, snowboard parallel giant slalom and curling. Critics on Metacritic gave the GBA version mixed reviews, noting the charm of the Olympic concept but pointing out the gameplay quirks.
