Summary

Rocky on the Game Boy Advance brings the iconic boxing saga to a handheld format, using a distinct gameplay style crafted by Virtucraft. While it follows the same cinematic inspiration as the console versions—drawing from the first five Rocky films—it offers its own spin that sets it apart from the Xbox, PS2, and GameCube releases.

The handheld title was published by Rage Software, with Ubi Soft handling the U.S. market, and it landed with mixed or average reviews. Critics gave the GBA version a 58.63% score on GameRankings and a 63/100 on Metacritic, with outlets like AllGame rating it 3/5 and GameSpot 5.7/10. Despite the lukewarm reception, the game’s attempt to translate Rocky’s gritty underdog story into portable form remains a nostalgic footnote for fans of the franchise.

Storyline

In Rocky on the Game Boy Advance you step into the shoes of the underdog boxer Rocky Balboa. The handheld title follows the classic film arc, starting with Rocky as a club‑fighter who must work his way up the ranks.

Along the way you face a roster of opponents that the movies at least name‑drop, such as the street‑wise Spider Rico, before earning a title shot against Apollo Creed. The game stays faithful to the movies, letting players relive the championship bout and even continue beyond the final round.
