Summary
Rockman Zero 3 Original X keeps the fast‑paced hack‑and‑slash feel of its predecessors while adding a few game‑changing tools. Zero still wields his trusty Z‑Saber, Buster and Shield Boomerang, but the old rod weapon has been swapped for the Recoil Rod – a pair of tonfa‑like arms that can be aimed in any direction, charged for a powerful stab, or used as a makeshift pogo‑stick when aimed downwards. The Cyber Elf system has been overhauled: Fusion Elves now provide permanent bonuses without hurting your mission rank, while Satellite Elves grant temporary perks and can be equipped two at a time. A brand‑new Customization Chip system replaces the old Forms, letting you slot one head, body and leg chip from Secret Disks to tweak Zero’s stats and even change his colour. A hidden Cyberspace portal drops enemies with a green tint and turns every foe into a health‑item source, but it also penalises your rank. After clearing the game you can unlock Hard Mode (no Cyber Elves, no Cyberspace, disabled full‑charge attacks) and Ultimate Mode (all Fusion Elves active from the start, instant full‑charge combos). Seven unlockable mini‑games reward mastery, from weapon‑restriction challenges to perfect‑score runs.
Storyline
Two months after Zero’s victory over Elpizo, the Dark Elf is still at large while Ciel completes the "Ciel System"—a new energy source meant to end the Reploid crisis. A crashed spaceship bearing the Dark Elf’s energy reading draws Zero to Neo Arcadia, where he discovers the Guardians—Harpuia, Fefnir, and Leviathan—battling the massive Reploid Omega and the banished scientist Dr. Weil. Dr. Weil has revived Copy X, who re‑asserts control over Neo Arcadia, prompting the Guardians to defect and Zero to split from Weil in search of the Dark Elf. The Dark Elf surfaces in a residential district, and Dr. Weil and Copy X launch a missile that kills thousands of humans. In response, Ciel withdraws her offer of the Ciel System; Weil brands the Resistance as Mavericks and begins an invasion. Zero finally confronts Copy X, only for Weil to betray and kill him, announcing his plan to fuse the Dark Elf with Omega using a frequency transmitter to dominate all Reploids. Armed with new skills that let him march into Arcadia alone, Zero defeats Omega, whose true form mirrors Zero himself. Weil reveals that Zero’s consciousness was copied while his original body was stolen for Omega’s use; the Guardians destroy the stolen body, ending Omega and freeing the Mother Elf. X appears briefly, urging Zero to protect Earth before vanishing forever, and the Mother Elf delivers a recovering Zero back to the Resistance Base.
