Summary
Robots on the Game Boy Advance drops you into Rodney Copperbottom’s workshop, where you can hop between Rodney, his trusty Wonderbot, and even Bigweld during a high‑speed chase. Scattered blueprints let you invent gadgets, while scrap doubles as ammo and shop currency for upgrades like the Maxi‑Scrap 500/1000 and the Refine‑O‑Max. Your arsenal grows from a basic wrench and Scrap Launcher to the Magnabeam, Magnet Bomb and an electric weapon, each upgradeable for extra range and punch.
The game plays like a Metroidvania platformer, with a sprawling map that unlocks new zones as you defeat bosses and collect parts. Along the way you’ll tackle quirky minigames—oil‑can tossing, domino survival, and a fast‑travel challenge that rewards extra ammo.
Vehicle sections let you zip around in wild robot rides, swapping in cooler parts to solve puzzles and take down Ratchet’s evil bots, making the world of the Robots movie feel surprisingly interactive on a handheld.
Storyline
In the Game Boy Advance title Robots, you play as Rodney Copperbottom, a bright young inventor robot who leaves Rivet City and heads for the famed Bigweld’s Factory. The factory has stopped hiring inventors, so Rodney sneaks in and accidentally interrupts a meeting led by the scheming Phineas T. Ratchet, who promptly throws him out.
Tossed into the underground, Rodney encounters a band of out‑moded bots called the Rusties, who reveal that Bigweld has been missing for a long time and that Ratchet is plotting to destroy the robots. After helping a fellow robot, Jack Hammer, Rodney learns of a party in the northern region, battles Ratchet again, and eventually reaches Bigweld’s mansion where the old robot reluctantly agrees to aid him.
Together they return to the factory, only to be ambushed by Ratchet; Rodney escapes by riding Bigweld in a dramatic boss fight that ends with a plunge into Madame Gasket’s lair. There he confronts the villainous Madame Gasket, defeats her, and puts an end to the tyranny threatening the city. With the plot foiled, Rodney’s dream of a better world for all robots finally comes true.
