Summary
The Ratatouille Game Boy Advance version lets you scurry through six vibrant Parisian stages, from dank sewers to bustling streets, using dash, glide and slide moves that capture the chaotic charm of the filmās kitchen world while adding platforming twists. Beyond solo play, the cartridge includes multiplayer miniāgames that pit friends against each other in frantic rat races and culinary heists, turning the handheld into a surprising party hub for a licensed title. Critics gave it mixed scoresāaround 6ā7 out of 10ābut the game still moved nearly four million copies and even snagged the Annie Award for Best Animated Video Game in 2008, making its blend of platform action and competitive fun a quirky footnote in the era of movie tieāins.
Storyline
Ratatouille on the Game Boy Advance follows the movieās opening on a farm where Remy and his brother Emile fetch apple cores for their dad, Django. The tutorial teaches basic controls before the duo snatch a cookbook by the late Auguste Gusteau, triggering an angry old lady who fires a shotgun and forces the rat colony onto makeshift boats. After a wrong turn in the sewers, Remy meets a vision of Gusteau who promises a lost star if he can impress the harsh critic Anton Ego. Remy navigates Parisās underground, falls into a kitchen sink, and upgrades a rancid soup contaminated by the new garbage boy Linguini, earning a shaky partnership with the clumsy chef. The pair team up to steal food from the cooler, turn off the gas, and outwit Head Chef Skinner, who repeatedly slips on mops, gets trapped in a freezer, and finally crashes under a chandelier. Side missions let Remy and his colony pilfer prized scraps at the market while evading the old lady and Skinnerās traps, even unlocking a bonus sewer level filled with decorative items. When Ego arrives for a review, Remy, Linguini, and Colette cook a feast that saves the criticās palate but exposes the rat colony, causing Gusteauās restaurant to shut. With Egoās funding, Linguini and Colette open a new bistro called "La Ratatouille," appointing Remy as head chef and letting players relive the filmās most thrilling moments as the aspiring Frenchācooking rat.
