Summary

Pac‑Man World 2’s handheld incarnation drops the full‑3D experience for an isometric layout that feels surprisingly roomy on the Game Boy Advance. The developers swapped polygonal models for crisp 2D sprites, letting the classic yellow hero dash through familiar platforming set‑pieces while the screen scrolls at a comfortable angle. Because the system can’t store files, progress is kept with a password‑based save system that feels retro‑ish but functional. One of the most noticeable trims is the removal of the underwater stages that appeared in the console version; the GBA’s hardware constraints meant those watery sections were simply cut. To balance the loss, an extra boss was tacked on, giving players a fresh challenge that never showed up on the home console. Unlike some handheld ports, this version doesn’t bundle the emulated classic Pac‑Man arcade titles, so the focus stays squarely on the platforming adventure itself. The result is a compact, sprite‑driven take on Pac‑Man World 2 that feels both nostalgic and uniquely suited to the Game Boy Advance’s strengths.

Storyline

In Pac-Man World 2 (Trashman) for the Game Boy Advance, the legend begins centuries ago when the evil ghost Spooky terrorized Pac‑Land. A Pac‑Wizard brewed a potion that turned five ordinary fruits into magical Golden Fruit, which a brave Pac‑Knight used to seal Spooky beneath a tree in Pac‑Village. In the present day, the mischievous ghosts Blinky, Inky, Pinky and Clyde sneak into the village at night, pluck the Golden Fruit, and unwittingly free Spooky. Spooky commands the ghosts to claim the fruit and help him wipe out the Pac‑People.

Professor Pac alerts Pac‑Man, who sets out across Pac‑Land and over the sea to Ghost Island, battling the ghosts and reclaiming each piece of Golden Fruit. When he returns to Pac‑Village, Spooky ambushes him, but the power of the recovered fruit transforms Pac‑Man into a golden form. In this new state he defeats Spooky once more and reseals the spirit beneath the tree. The villagers celebrate, and Pac‑Man’s dog Chomp‑Chomp chases the fleeing ghosts away.
